One of the best interpretations ever, excellent performances from everyone involved. Outstanding all female band.
Holy Hell!
This is the one. The cast and talent on display are insane. Not to mention the production quality on this which makes this recording shine. My only complaint is it isn’t the full album. If they did the full album, it would be my favorite JCS recording ever. It’s high up there though.
Wonderful and Refreshing
I absolutely LOVE this production!
Firstly the talent is just stunning; what amazing casting for every single character. The director really had a grasp on what the sound of this album should be and you can tell from every aspect, from orchestration to choice of riff.
Secondly, I love the concept! The characters all remain the gender from the original show but just happen to be played by women, which is such a fun subversion of classic theatre where everyone was once played by men regardless of canon gender.
It’s really refreshing to get to see a new take on such a classic show, especially around the time of its 50th anniversary 🙂
Cash grab in my opinion.
This review isn’t sexist in anyway, but I feel these roles should be always performed from the real genders that the people were in the Bible. And it feels offensive to me, making Jesus a women?? (which He wasn’t, He was a man) I’m a member of the lgbt community and I’m a Christian. But Jesus wasn’t women, don’t get me wrong they are amazing singers but there is so much more they could do. Personally I do not like this cast recording. 1 star for nice sounding music.
